Construction

David Rintoul handles both contentious and non-contentious construction matters. He regularly gives contractual advice to specialist design contractors, as well as representing clients in lengthy adjudications. "His work is always very pragmatic, commercially minded and legally effective," remarks a client.

Employment

Advises on the full range of issues affecting employers and employees, with notable strength in restructures, TUPE transfers and senior executive matters. Also handles large-scale litigation, tribunals and problems with regard to industrial relations. Helen Beech handles a wide range of work, including restructuring matters, disability grievances and industrial relations. Michael Sippitt maintains a broad employment practice alongside his role as chair of the firm. Monica Atwal advises on business immigration matters, GDPR compliance and TUPE transfers. "She is excellent in discrimination claims and fights for her clients; she really understands and empathises with them and gets the best that she can for them," comments a source.

Litigation

Outstanding practice regularly involved in high-profile disputes. Acts for clients active in a variety of sectors, including the energy, shipping and automotive industries. Expertise covers a wide range of commercial disputes, including the termination of supply contracts and procurement litigation.

Antony Morris is known for his commercial litigation expertise. His broad practice includes contract termination cases as well as partnership and shareholder disputes such as unfair prejudice claims.

According to interviewees, Christopher Tayton is "very experienced, commercial and easy to work with." Sources also praise his ability to provide "focused and incisive advice that is tactically well thought through and delivered in a personable manner." He is experienced in a wide range of commercial and contractual disputes, including procurement cases.

Stephen James handles commercial litigation cases, often involving the real estate sector. He represents corporations as well as high net worth individuals.

Real Estate

Advises on major commercial and residential property transactions and development projects. Also equipped to assist with complex investment and portfolio management matters. Regularly handles public sector work, including assisting clients in the education and healthcare industries. Strong client base consists of notable regional and national organisations. Further strength in advising clients in the hotels and leisure sector.

Head of the firm's real estate team Rachel Krol routinely advises on property sales and purchases and other investment matters.
