Today, August 15, 2013, Uruguay's Administration is scheduled to launch an international call to invite companies to bid for the construction and concession of a deep water port facing the Atlantic Ocean (“the DWP”).

Official sources estimate an annual activity of 55.8 tons (primarily South Brazil grain and iron production). Construction of the DWP is supposed to demand an estimated investment of approximately U$D 800 – 1,000 million.

The DWP project would be conducted under the public-private-association legal framework. A single private operator would be responsible for the financing, design, construction and operation of the DWP.

The DWP is deemed to be one of the most significant infrastructure projects in Uruguay over the incoming years.

Deadline for presentation of offers expires on October 14, 2013.
